Simple speed test comparison between BASIC languages

Jim Phillips wrote a nice tutorial some time back on optimising the code of a BASIC program called QFASTMAN.

I like to program in BASIC
With code that is simple and slick
I learnt it in school
And it is still cool
So it is my number one pick

Thanks, I will check it out.

Update: What a great spirit in that writing!

I have experimented with my own zoom programs on Mandelbrot and sort of knew things bogged down in the Mandelbrot "Lake" but I did not think there was anything that could be done, now I know different! Still, the more interesting parts are outside the "Lake" along the shore and coral reefs.
